CUNY MGI/GEAR UP Federal Objectives
Objective 1: Increase the academic performance of the CUNY MGI/GEAR UP cohort and their rates of high school graduation.
Objective 2: Increase CUNY MGI/GEAR UP students' expectations, preparation, and readiness for postsecondary education.
Objective 3: Increase CUNY MGI/GEAR UP parents/families' understanding of preparation, access, and financing of post-secondary education.
Objective 4: Increase the acceptance and enrollment rate of CUNY MGI/GEAR UP students into postsecondary programs.
Objective 5: Increase the efficacy of CUNY MGI/GEAR UP teachers and counselors.
MGI/GEAR UP Performance Measures
Performance Measure 1: At least 90% of MGI/GEAR UP students will be promoted to the next grade each year.
Performance Measure 2: 95% of MGI/GEAR UP students will successfully complete pre-Algebra (or equivalent) by end of 8th grade with a grade of 65 or better.
Performance Measure 3: 95% of MGI/GEAR UP students will successfully complete Algebra I (or equivalent) by end of 9th grade with a grade of 65 or better.
Performance Measure 4: Increase % of MGI/GEAR UP students who successfully complete advanced math classes (Algebra II and higher; final grade of 75 or better) by at least 10% in grades 10-12 over the most recent school average.
Performance Measure 5: Increase % MGI/GEAR UP students who meet or exceed grade level expectations on State and City assessment exams by at least 10% each year over the most recent school average.
Performance Measure 6: Increase MGI/GEAR UP students' average GPA in English Language Arts and math course grades each year by at least 5% year over the most recent school average.
Performance Measure 7: Increase % of MGI/GEAR UP students' who complete Regents' courses and pass exams with 75 or better between grades 9-12 by at least 10% over most recent school average.
Performance Measure 8: Increase MGI/GEAR UP students' on-time graduation rate by at least 20% over the most recent school average.
Performance Measure 9: Increase MGI/GEAR UP students' average daily attendance by at least 10% over most recent school average.
Performance Measure 10: 95% of MGI/GEAR UP students will successfully complete at least one college credit course with a grade of C or better before high school graduation.
Performance Measure 11: Increase % of MGI/GEAR UP students who expect to enroll in college by 5% or a statistically significant increase each year.
Performance Measure 12: Increase % of CUNY MGI/GEAR UP parents/families who expect their children to attend college by at least 5% or a statistically significant increase each year.
Performance Measure 13: Increase % of MGI/GEAR UP students who take the SAT in the 11th grade by at least 20% over the most recent school average.
Performance Measure 14: Increase % of MGI/GEAR UP students who earn Regents' and Regents' Honors diplomas by at least 20% over the most recent school average.
Performance Measure 15: Increase % of MGI/GEAR UP students who are accepted and enroll in postsecondary education programs by at least 20% over the most recent school average.
Performance Measure 16: Increase the efficacy of teachers and counselors who participate in professional development by 10%.
