Frequently Asked Questions
How can I get my child involved in MGI?
Right now, MGI partners with a limited number of New York City public schools and serves specific grades. For a list of participating schools, click here. If your child attends one of these participating schools and is in a focus grade and you've signed the parent release form, your child is automatically eligible to receive all MGI services.
How can I help promote MGI in my child's school?
We are always happy to have parents involved in our program. For specific ways you can be involved in MGI at your child's school, speak with your local MGI Program Coordinator. Contact information is available here.
My child has transferred schools; can he still be involved in MGI?
If your child's new school does not participate in the MGI program, he is no longer eligible for MGI services. Ask the new school's principal or parent coordinator for programs that your school or nearby community has to offer.
What if my child is an undocumented citizen?
MGI does not discriminate based on citizenship status. All students that attend our partner schools and are in the appropriate grades will receive services through MGI. It is important to remember that students who are not US citizens are also eligible to apply to public and private colleges. For more information on financial aid and scholarships for undocumented students, see our College$ense website. |
